Merzouga Camel Ride : we head into Morocco’s Sahara Desert on a camel and watch the sun set over the Erg Chebbi Dunes. This camel ride excursion offers spectacular views and a chance to experience the desert nomad lifestyle. Try sand-boarding and drumming, enjoy traditional tagine and sweet mint tea before camping under the stars in a Berber tent.
We will leave in the early hours of the afternoon of your hostel to start this Merzouga Camel Ride adventure with the camels as mean of transport, in a camel caravan, to enter the Erg Chebbi. The total duration of this trip to the camp where we will spend the first night will last about 1 hour and a half.
Once arrived, we will have time to go to the great dune and watch a spectacular sunset. Once in the camp we will have a welcome tea and, after dinner, we will prepare ourselves to spend a Berber night in the traditional way: around the fire, listening to the African rhythms of the drums and the castanets, sharing stories with the nomads, who will tell us many stories about Berber life under a sky full of starts. We will spend the night the traditional nomad tents.
We will wake up early to climb to the great dune and watch the sunrise. Once we return to the camp, we will have breakfast and, with renewed forces, we will proceed to the Hamada (the black desert). There we will spend the night with a nomadic family.
On the way there we will make several stops to rest and to have lunch. Once we meet our hosts, we will share with them the welcome tea, dinner and the silence that reigns these places.
From our beds we will be able to contemplate the sunrise, after which we will undertake our journey to return to your hostel, where we will arrive in approximately 3 hours ride and where we will conclude your excursion and our services.
Merzouga Camel Ride start from Merzouga area towards the dunes and back to the hostel.
