Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga (Desert)

through the Middle Atlas, passing through the city of Ifrane (the Moroccan Switzerland) famous for its charming sky resort and almost perpetual snow. We will continue towards Azrou, famous for its cedar forests and inhabited by monkeys that we can observe and feed. We will then continue towards the south, crossing multiple Berber villages. We will arrive at Midelt for lunch. After lunch we will drive to Erfoud, passing by Tizi N’Talghoumt, from where you can appreciate impressive panoramic views of the Middle Atlas. We will also cross the Gorges and Ziz Valley, and its desertic landscapes. Once we arrive to Erfoud, we will take an off-road route to reach the hotel. There the camels caravan will be waiting to take you to the heart of the desert just in time to enjoy morocco camel trekking anda majestic sunset and admire the color-changing sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will spend the night in a camp in the middle of the desert and have a taste of Berber Life. You will be settled in a nomad tent and welcomed with a traditional Moroccan mint tea and Berber dinner. After dinner, your nomad hosts will invite you to enjoy a session of Berbers drumming, singing and dancing around the camp fire, under the shining stars of the night in the Morocco Sahara Desert.
Day 2: Merzouga (Desert) – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
In the second day of our Fes to Marrakech 3 day desert tour we’ll drive leaving Merzouga Sahara towards the incredible Gorges of dades.
If there is something that no one can miss is enjoying a sunrise in the desert, so this day we will get up early (you can climb on to one of the highest dunes of Erg Chebbi). You will then ride the camels to the hostel for a quick shower and breakfast. After breakfast we will leave the desert towards Rissani, birthplace of Morocco’s ruling royal family and the age-old capital of the Tafilalt region, famous for its traditional Souk and the dates market. There you will be able to visit the market of donkeys, goats and cows. We will then drive towards Erfoud to visit a marble and fossil factory and learn about the formation of the sahara desert, before continuing the journey through the palm grove of Touroug and Tinejdad. We will then deviate from the main route and take a turn until we reach the spectacular Gorges, the dramatic Todra Gorges (the Todra river bed has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and of great beauty, the paradise of the climbers). We will stop to explore the canyons and have lunch. After lunch, we will continue towards the Dades Valley, unitl we reach BoumalneDades. then our Fes to Marrakech 3 day desert tour ends by having Dinner and accommodation in a charming Riad.
Day 3: Dades Gorges – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
As usual After breakfast, we will leave the riad in Boumalne Dades starting the last day of our Fes to Marrakech 3 day desert tour by heading towards the High Atlas. We will travel along the famous ‘road of 1001 kasbahs’ and you will be able to enjoy the views of the Roses Valley, where its people make creams, soaps and the famous water of roses (all natural products made from the crops of the roses). We will also travel along the palm grove of Skoura until we reach Ouarzazate, where we will visit the beautiful Kasbah of Taourirt (home of the former caïd and owned by T’hami El Glaoui), where people from the Atlas, Draa and Dades Valleys have traded and socialized for centuries. We will also visit the village of Ait Benhaddou and its magnificent Kasbah (fortress) classified as UNESCO world heritage site since 1987 and famous film production location (Gladiator, Game of Thrones). The guide will explain you the history of this magic place and will take you to the top of the hill to admire the beautiful views of the whole village. After lunch, we will start our journey to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’ Tichka pass (about 2260 meters altitude). On the way, we will make several stops to enjoy panoramic views and visit an Argan oil cooperative, where you will discover the production process and its innumerable benefits for the human body.
